Valde-Ucieza
Village
Valde-Ucieza is a municipality in the Palencia stretch of Tierra de Campos, in Castile and León, formed by the 1944 merger of three villages — Robladillo de Ucieza, Villamorco and Villasabariego de Ucieza — with its seat in Robladillo de Ucieza; its municipal area also includes the settlement of Miñanes, with no further hamlets. Of the 742 residents it had at the time of the merger, barely a tenth remain today: around 77 inhabitants according to the INE. Local tradition places in this area of the Ucieza valley another settlement, Trampalirón, said to have been depopulated by a flea plague, whose land became communal ground shared among the neighbouring villages.
