Pozo de Urama
Village
Pozo de Urama is a hamlet in the Tierra de Campos region, in the province of Palencia, with barely twenty inhabitants, far from the 250 households it recorded in 1842. Its name comes from the Latin puteus, well, and from the Mozarabic personal name Abdurama, and it already appears documented in 946 as Puteo de Abdurama, when it was donated to San Félix de Cisneros. In the early 19th century it was described as a lordship town in the district of Carrión and the diocese of León, with 107 households and a parish; after the fall of the Ancien Régime it became a municipality of the Frechilla district, then known as Pozo de Brama. It preserves the parish church of Nuestra Señora del Castillo.
