Manquillos
Village
Manquillos is a hamlet in Palencia, in the Tierra de Campos comarca, with around 62 inhabitants, situated at 756 metres above sea level in the floodplain of the río Carrión, whose lush vegetation makes it a green oasis within a landscape that is predominantly yellow and dry, dominated by the growing of wheat and barley. It borders San Cebrián de Campos, Perales, Paredes de Nava and Villoldo, and is connected to these towns by paved local roads and by the road linking it to Perales. Its church of la Asunción is held to be a former Templar convent, and in 1900 the village reached 265 residents.
