Amayuelas de Arriba
Village
Amayuelas de Arriba is a hamlet in the province of Palencia, at 782 metres of altitude, which gives its name to a county created in the 16th century in favour of Bernardino Manrique de Lara y Barrientos, also lord of the neighbouring Amayuelas de Abajo —today a hamlet of San Cebrián de Campos— and of Amusco, from where the family originated. After the fall of the Old Regime it became its own municipality, within the district of Astudillo, and the 1842 census counted 43 households and 224 residents. Today it has about thirty-six inhabitants and preserves at the centre of the settlement the church of Santa Columba.
