Boada de Campos
Village
Boada de Campos is a hamlet of 17 inhabitants situated at 746 metres above sea level, in the Tierra de Campos comarca, province of Palencia. Its name comes from boyada, a herd of oxen, and it already appears as Boucita in a document from 916. In 1842 it had 234 residents spread across 45 households. The Boada lagoon, an important wetland for the wintering of the greylag goose, is part of the La Nava-Campos Sur Special Protection Area for Birds. It preserves the parish church, of Romanesque origin and remodelled in the Mudejar period with Gothic touches, and the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Castillo, today half in ruins, which before being plundered housed a 16th-century sculpture of the Virgin attributed to Pedro de Bolduque.
