What to see and do in Revilla de Collazos

Revilla de Collazos
Village
Revilla de Collazos is a hamlet in the La Ojeda area, in Palencia province, at 930 metres above sea level; it has 75 inhabitants, against the 324 it had in 1900. Its church of San Andrés, of Romanesque origin and a single nave, was rebuilt in the 17th century, when side chapels, a tower at the foot and a porch that destroyed the original doorway were added. Inside stands out a column-statue found in the late 20th century when the altar was moved, depicting in high relief a bearded musician playing a five-stringed vihuela and dating from the mid-12th century, like the original building, probably the work of the sculpture workshop of the Aguilar de Campoo school.
Church of San Andrés de Revilla
Monument
A single-nave church, well oriented and Romanesque in origin, to which the side chapels and the tower were added in the seventeenth century; it is the main building of this village of the Boedo moorland.

Curiosity
While the altar was being remodelled a carved twelfth-century column appeared with a bearded figure playing a five-stringed vihuela; experts link it to the sculptural workshop of the school of Aguilar de Campoo.
