What to see and do in Sotobañado y Priorato

Sotobañado y Priorato
Village
Sotobañado y Priorato is a municipality in La Ojeda, in the province of Palencia, with 154 inhabitants (INE 2025), located beside the río Boedo and surrounded by an abundant poplar grove; its municipal area also includes the hamlet of Sotillo de Boedo. In 1114 Queen Urraca granted the town, then called Sotevenado, under royal tenure, to Fernando Románez and his wife Sancha, as recorded in the documentation of the Santiago monastery of Santa Eufemia de Cozuelos. It reached 703 residents in 1900 and preserves remains of the priory of Mañino. Its patronal festivities, dedicated to Nuestra Señora de los Milagros, are held on the second weekend of September, with an orchestra and competitions organised by the youth peña of quintos.
