What to see and do in Olea de Boedo

Olea de Boedo
Village
Olea de Boedo is a hamlet in the Boedo-Ojeda area, in Palencia province, with fewer than forty inhabitants, now far from the 150 it had in 1920. It is reached from Palencia via the A-67 to Frómista, the N-611 to Osorno la Mayor and a series of regional roads passing through Sotobañado and Priorato. It preserves the church of San Juan Bautista, and its old forge, with its farrier's stand, has been restored as a cultural centre next to landscaped areas. A house-museum recalls the painter Benjamín Jorde, a native of the village, and every year the Paella Festivals are held, as prized in the area as the good neighbourly spirit that accompanies them.
Church of San Juan Bautista de Olea
Monument
A parish church preceded by a Baroque porch, it is the main building of a village of barely forty households lying at 930 metres above sea level in the heart of the Boedo valley, in the smallest municipal district in the comarca.
