What to see and do in Cimanes de la Vega

Cimanes de la Vega
Village
Cimanes de la Vega is a municipality of about 430 inhabitants situated in the floodplain of the río Esla, in the province of León, between 715 and 793 metres above sea level. Besides the eponymous locality it includes the settlements of Bariones de la Vega and Lordemanos. Its dry and irrigated lands, benefiting from the Esla canal, support crops of sugar beet, maize and fodder, along with cattle, sheep and pigs. The main monument is the 11th-century hermitage of the Virgen de la Vega, around which the eponymous festival is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, preceded by a novena in which nine villages of the comarca take part, one day each.
