Village
San Cristóbal de Entreviñas is a municipality in the comarca of Benavente y Los Valles, in the province of Zamora, in the valley of the Esla river, 78 kilometres from the provincial capital; besides the eponymous town it includes the hamlets of San Miguel del Esla and Santa Colomba de las Carabias, the latter incorporated in 1972. It has 1,328 inhabitants, compared with 562 in the mid-19th century. Its parish church, from the 15th century, blends Romanesque and Gothic styles and stands out for its large square tower; it holds a Baroque altarpiece and a very valuable restored Mudejar coffered ceiling. The municipality, integrated into the Kingdom of León during the Middle Ages, passed in 1833 from the Región Leonesa to the province of Zamora. The main town celebrates its festivals for La Trinidad and for San Cristóbal, on 10 July.
