Vizcaínos
Village
Vizcaínos is a municipality in the province of Burgos, in the Demanda y Pinares comarca, set at 1,019 meters of altitude on the southern foothills of the sierra de la Demanda, 59 kilometers from the provincial capital. Its founding is attributed to Navarrese resettlers from Sangüesa. In 1794 it was a seigniorial place, within the corregimiento of Burgos, governed by a pedáneo mayor; in the mid-19th century it had as many as 166 inhabitants, compared with 41 today. It preserves a Romanesque parish church dedicated to San Martín de Tours.
