What to see and do in Barbadillo del Pez

Barbadillo del Pez
Village
Barbadillo del Pez is a municipality in the Sierra de la Demanda, in the province of Burgos, with 64 inhabitants, split in two by the Pedroso river, once famous for its trout. In 1583 there were iron mines nearby, and until the mid-18th century almost all its residents worked making sayales, an industry that was then fairly good. In the early 20th century and until the 1960s it had more than 600 inhabitants, before emigration to Biscay, Madrid and Burgos emptied the municipality. It celebrates its patron, Saint Roch, from the 14th to the 17th of August, and on 16 September the feast of Gracias, with a meal that brings together the whole village.
