Village
Cabañes de Esgueva is a municipality in the Burgos comarca of the Ribera del Duero, situated in the valley of the Esgueva river, sixty kilometres from Burgos along the Autovía del Norte, with 145 inhabitants. As a manorial lordship it belonged to the duchy of Medinaceli, whose holder appointed its mayor, and it reached the end of the Old Regime as a constitutional town council of the Lerma district, with 131 households. It borders Cilleruelo de Abajo, Santibáñez de Esgueva and Sotillo de la Ribera. Today its economy is divided between cereal crops and the vineyards of the Ribera del Duero.
