What to see and do in Partido de la Sierra en Tobalina

Partido de la Sierra en Tobalina
Village
The Partido de la Sierra en Tobalina lies in the north of the province of Burgos, 70 kilometres from the capital, and has its seat at Valderrama, together with Cubilla and Ranera. It was part of the old mountain jurisdiction of the Tobalina valley, which lasted throughout the Ancien Régime and in 1834 was incorporated into the district of Villarcayo; in the mid-19th century it split into two municipalities, the Valle de Tobalina and this Partido de la Sierra, which originally also included Villanueva de los Montes and Zangández, settlements that later passed to Oña. With 75 inhabitants, it preserves this small three-settlement structure inherited from that 19th-century division.

Curiosity
Three hamlets make up the seventy-five residents of this municipality of thirty square kilometres, the remnant of an old jurisdiction of the valley of Tobalina that was split into two town councils around 1857.
