Navas de Bureba
Village
Navas de Bureba is a hamlet of 24 inhabitants in the comarca of La Bureba, in the province of Burgos, situated at the foot of the sierra de Oña, beside the N-232 road that leads towards Santander. The relief descends from the 1216 metres of the sierra to the 700 metres of the southern end of the municipal area; the village stands at 769 metres. As a crown town it belonged to the cuadrilla of La Vid, one of the seven into which the old Merindad de Bureba was divided. When the Old Regime fell, already as a constitutional town council, it had 91 inhabitants. It preserves the church of the Asunción de Nuestra Señora, counted among the six most notable Romanesque monuments of La Bureba.
