What to see and do in Cascajares de Bureba

Cascajares de Bureba
Village
Cascajares de Bureba is a hamlet in the comarca of La Bureba, in the province of Burgos, situated at the foot of the Montes Obarenes, on land that descends towards the valley of the río Oca, a tributary of the Ebro. It is watered by the modest río Oroncillo, 36 kilometres long, which rises within its territory. Its name refers to the cascajeras of the terrain. It is first mentioned in a document of 15 February 1011; it was a crown town in the cuadrilla de La Vid, within the Merindad de Bureba, and after the fall of the Ancien Régime it became a constitutional municipality of the judicial district of Briviesca, when it reached 167 inhabitants. Its parish church, dedicated to San Facundo and San Primitivo, today is a dependency of the parish of Busto de Bureba, diocese of Burgos. It now has 25 inhabitants.
