Vallarta de Bureba
Village
Vallarta de Bureba is a municipality of 41 inhabitants east of Briviesca, in the comarca of La Bureba, with a municipal area of 19.12 km² in which lies the depopulated settlement of Vallartilla. It belonged to the Cuadrilla de Quintanilla de San García, one of the seven into which the Merindad de Bureba was divided, under crown jurisdiction with a local magistrate. When the Old Regime fell it was constituted as a constitutional town council, and in the mid-19th century the town had 150 houses and about 300 residents, seven times the population it retains today.
