Zuñeda
Village
Zuñeda is a hamlet of 58 inhabitants in the comarca of La Bureba (Burgos), with a municipal area of twelve square kilometres. It was a royal town, with a pedáneo councillor, forming part of the Cuadrilla de Santa María de Ribarredonda, one of the seven into which the old Merindad de Bureba was divided. After the fall of the Ancien Régime it became a constitutional council of the district of Briviesca, with 135 inhabitants; in the mid-19th century it had 84 houses, a figure recorded in Pascual Madoz's Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico. The village preserves the church dedicated to San Andrés.
