Berzosa de Bureba
Village
Berzosa de Bureba is a hamlet in the comarca of La Bureba, in the province of Burgos, beside the N-1 road, on flat terrain watered by streams tributary to the río Matapán. Under the Ancien Régime it was a lordship town, belonging to the cuadrilla de La Vid within the Merindad de Bureba, with jurisdiction exercised by don Felipe de Cantabrana, who appointed its local deputy mayor; after the fall of that regime it became a municipality with 129 inhabitants, a figure now reduced to 26. Its church, dedicated to the Asunción de Nuestra Señora, is a dependency of the parish of Busto de Bureba. Its patronal festival has no fixed date, since it is celebrated on the day of the Santísima Trinidad, which varies each year with Easter.
