Fuentebureba
Village
Fuentebureba is a municipality of 58 inhabitants in the comarca of La Bureba, in the province of Burgos, situated beside the N-1 road, joined by the settlements of Calzada de Bureba and its Estación quarter. Its municipal area, flat and given to cereal farming, barely exceeds nine square kilometres and is watered by the small Matapán and Grillera rivers; the village stands at 681 metres. It was a crown town with a local magistrate, part of the Cuadrilla de Santa María de Ribarredonda, one of the seven into which the Merindad de Bureba was divided; when the Old Regime fell it was constituted as the constitutional town council of the Briviesca district, with 147 inhabitants at the time. Its parish is the church of San Miguel Arcángel, of the archpriestship of Oca-Tirón, in the diocese of Burgos.
