What to see and do in Quintanilla San García

Quintanilla San García
Village
Quintanilla San García is a municipality of 66 inhabitants in the comarca of La Bureba, in Burgos, situated at an altitude of 725 metres in the area known as las lomas. It was formerly nicknamed Quintanilla Siete Iglesias for the number of churches it once had; only the parish of Santa María and the ruins of San Andrés remain, on the mound where today the village's monument to the tractor also stands. Its current name derives from Quintanilla de Sancho García, after the count who resettled the area, and it is already documented as such in the 14th century. Through its municipal area runs the Roman road that linked Briviesca with Cerezo de Río Tirón, part of the route between Tarragona and Astorga.
The vineyard of the eastern edge
Food and drink
As the ground approaches the valley of the Ebro and La Rioja, cereal gives way to the vine: on the eastern edge of the comarca vineyards and wineries of locally consumed wine are maintained, on the frontier of two wine cultures.
