Valle de Santibáñez
Village
Valle de Santibáñez is a municipality in the province of Burgos (Castilla y León), in the Alfoz de Burgos district, created in the 1970s by the union of ten independent villages in the valley of the river Úrbel, with its seat in Santibáñez-Zarzaguda. With 482 inhabitants, it preserves the castle of Zumel, a 15th-century seigneurial tower, now restored and privately owned, and the Romanesque hermitage of the Virgen de la Cuadra, situated on land belonging to the village of Mansilla, near Zumel and La Nuez de Abajo. Its territory is also home to the Páramo Vega and Las Viñas wind farms, with several dozen turbines between them.
