What to see and do in Navalmoral de la Sierra

Navalmoral de la Sierra
Village
Navalmoral de la Sierra is a town in the province of Ávila situated in the Valle del Alto Alberche, at the foot of the Sierra de la Paramera, between the Sierra de Gredos and the Iruelas valley nature reserve, within the protected area of the Sierras de la Paramera y Serrota. Its name recalls a nava (upland plain) of good pastures and an old, huge mulberry tree that grew beside the Fuente del Chorro. At 1042 metres above sea level and around 30 kilometres south of Ávila, it has around 445 inhabitants, a figure that multiplies in summer, and its sixteenth-century church of San Pedro Apóstol stands out. A road of Roman origin climbs from the village to the Navalmoral pass, and on Easter Monday the villagers go out to the countryside to eat hornazo.
