Rebollosa de Jadraque
Village
Rebollosa de Jadraque is a municipality of the northern sierra of Guadalajara, in Castilla-La Mancha, situated on the road to Atienza along the CM-101, with barely 11 inhabitants over 7.67 square kilometres, next to the sierra de la Rodera and the río Cañamares. Local tradition recalls that King Pedro I of Castile was resting here when they brought him the head of the nobleman Gutiérrez Fernández, beheaded on his orders, and that the monarch "took great pleasure in it". In the mid-19th century the place recorded 86 inhabitants. Its parish church, of Renaissance design with a rebuilt portico, holds inside a Baroque altarpiece of ornate content; the village celebrates its patron, San Roque, on 16 August, with activities organised by the Asociación de Rebolloseros.
