La Bodera
Village
La Bodera is a municipality in the northern sierra of Guadalajara, with barely 19 inhabitants, at 1,124 metres beside the Cañamares river, among oak groves, holm oak woods and pine forests with ash trees, rockroses and Spanish lavender. In the mid-19th century, according to Pascual Madoz, it had 203 inhabitants. In the silver fever that swept the region after the discovery of the deposits at nearby Hiendelaencina, the silver mines of La Bodera, on both banks of the Cañamares river, on the border with Robledo de Corpes, reached significant production, with ups and downs, in an operation that lasted until 1925, although the decline had already begun in 1916, when the last mine closed. It preserves the church of Santiago Apóstol and the hermitages of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios and la Soledad.
