Angón
Village
Angón is a municipality of the Serranía de Guadalajara, situated, as Pascual Madoz described it in 1847, 'between two hills on the shady side', at 996 metres above sea level, among oak and holm oak woods. It is one of the smallest villages in the province, with barely 8 inhabitants compared with the 227 it had in the mid-19th century. It preserves the church of Santa Catalina, built in the 16th century on a Romanesque structure, and the remains of the castle of Inesque; its heraldic coat of arms was approved in 1993. It celebrates San Blas on 3 February and Santa Catalina, patron saint of the village, on 25 November.
