What to see and do in Condemios de Arriba

Condemios de Arriba
Village
Condemios de Arriba, with 101 inhabitants, lies in the northern sierra of Guadalajara, in the valley of the Condemios river, between the Llanos plateau and the Sierra del Poyato, with Alto Rey dominating the district. After the Reconquest it remained, together with Condemios de Abajo, under the Común de Atienza, and from the 14th century it passed into the hands of nobles such as the Princess of Éboli, until it was integrated into the House of the Infantado until the 19th century. On 4 December 1833, during the First Carlist War, the Isabelline troops of Saturnino Abuín defeated the Carlist forces of Juan Manuel Balmaseda here. It preserves the church of San Vicente Mártir, celebrates this saint on 22 January and the Assumption on 15 August, and keeps up the tradition of the Danzantes de Condemios (dancers of Condemios); south of the village centre there is a pine wood with saffron milk cap mushrooms (níscalos).
