Sacedón
Village
Sacedón is a municipality in the comarca of La Alcarria, in the province of Guadalajara, situated at the heart of the so-called Mar de Castilla, among the reservoirs of Entrepeñas, Bolarque and Buendía, and today has 1,623 inhabitants. It received the privilege of town status on 21 March 1553, in the time of Charles I, on becoming independent from Huete. In its municipal area stood the royal spa of la Isabela, frequented by royalty since the reign of Ferdinand VII, which disappeared in 1950 under the waters of the Buendía reservoir together with the town of Poyos, today incorporated into Sacedón. It retains the parish church, from the 16th century, with the date 1591 inscribed on the main door, and in the hamlet of Córcoles stands the Cistercian monastery of Monsalud, from the 12th century.
