Villalengua
Village
Villalengua is a municipality of the Community of Calatayud, in the province of Zaragoza, at 770 metres of altitude and on the banks of the Manubles river, a tributary of the Jalón; it was formerly called Villaluenga. In the Middle Ages it was a commandery and lordship of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. Its church of the Asunción de Nuestra Señora, Gothic and possibly from the 16th century, is under the patronage of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles and later received a baroque dome. In the mid-19th century the town had 840 registered inhabitants, far more than today. Its patronal festivals, in honour of Saints Gervasius and Protasius, are held on 19 June, together with San Pascual Bailón and Santiago.
