What to see and do in Luesma

Luesma
Village
Luesma is a municipality in the comarca of Campo de Daroca, in the province of Zaragoza, situated at 943 metres above sea level near the sierra de Herrera, on the banks of a river of the same name, although the town centre sits on a plain. It has 42 inhabitants. Its church of Our Lady of the Junquera stands on a rocky outcrop — the original building partly collapsed — and preserves a Mudéjar tower from the 16th-18th centuries; inside, the pendentives decorated with frescoes of the Church Fathers are attributed to Francisco de Goya by some authors, though without unanimous agreement. It is undergoing restoration. Near the village, on a hill, stands the hermitage of San Cristóbal, from the 16th century, and on the mount of the cabezo del Pino, remains of Civil War trenches can still be seen.
