What to see and do in Cerveruela

Cerveruela
Village
Cerveruela is a small municipality in the Campo de Daroca, in the province of Zaragoza, built at 868 metres above sea level on a slate outcrop in a bend of the río Huerva, between the sierra del Águila and the sierra del Peco. In 1248, by privilege of James I, it broke away from Daroca and joined the Sesma de Trasierra, a regime that lasted until the death of Ferdinand VII in 1833. It preserves the baroque church of Santiago el Mayor, from the 18th century, and by the river, in the paraje de la Revuelta del Molino, grows the sabimbre or white willow, the largest recorded in Aragón, found in 2014 almost hidden by vegetation, standing 14 metres tall. The municipality, small in size as it is hemmed in between sierras and ravines, has 38 inhabitants (2025).
