What to see and do in Santa Cruz de Nogueras

Santa Cruz de Nogueras
Village
Santa Cruz de Nogueras is a small municipality in the Jiloca district, in the north-west of the province of Teruel, at 894 metres above sea level and with barely 24 inhabitants. Its church of the Invención de la Santa Cruz, built of slate masonry with three naves and a four-tier tower, was destroyed in 1936 and later rebuilt. It also preserves the hermitage of San Bartolomé, with a Greek-cross floor plan and a dome over the crossing, related to those of Cucalón and Loscos, and a circular ice house carved into the rock, restored in 2005. The village is also home to the Museum of the Paleozoic Seas, dedicated to invertebrate marine fossils 500 million years old; its building, adapted to the hillside, looks out over the valley of the river Cámaras.
