What to see and do in Vistabella de Huerva

Vistabella de Huerva
Village
Vistabella de Huerva is a small municipality in the Campo de Cariñena district, in the province of Zaragoza, situated in the flood plain of the Huerva river at 745 metres above sea level, surrounded by hills exceeding 1,000 metres. It has 51 inhabitants. Upstream, towards Tosos, the Hoces del Huerva stretch for about twenty kilometres, a hard-to-reach area that is part of the Natura 2000 Network. On an esplanade in the village stands the hermitage of Santa Quiteria, a whitewashed building of popular construction with a two-sided roof and a metal bell-gable, where the village carries its patroness in a pilgrimage on 22 May. The urban centre also preserves the parish church of San Miguel, of 16th-century Mudejar origin, with a main altarpiece from the 17th century dedicated to the saint.

Church of Vistabella de Huerva
Monument
The parish church of Vistabella de Huerva, dedicated to San Miguel Arcángel, was originally built in the 16th century in Mudéjar style, of which some traces survive today in the walls of the current building. It preserves a major altarpiece dedicated to San Miguel, dated to the 17th century, of sober but beautiful decoration. The whitewashed façade features a brick semicircular arch, and the temple is completed by a two-tier brick tower. The municipality, part of the Cariñena designation of origin, thus preserves one of its main historic buildings.
