What to see and do in Tramacastilla

Tramacastilla
Village
Tramacastilla is a municipality in the Sierra de Albarracín, in the province of Teruel, with 133 inhabitants (INE 2025), situated on the border between the old kingdoms of Aragón and Castile, in the Sistema Ibérico, and crossed by the Camino del Cid. By privilege of King James I, in 1257 it became part of the Sesma de Villar del Cobo, within the Comunidad de Santa María de Albarracín, and it is the only one of the old sesmas to have remained alive after the 1837 dissolution decree, now having its seat in the town itself. Its church of Santa Ana is already described in the geographical dictionary of Pascual Madoz. In July it celebrates festivals dedicated to Santa Ana, with a medieval re-enactment, and in August the patronal festivities of San Roque.
