What to see and do in Noguera de Albarracín

Noguera de Albarracín
Village
Noguera de Albarracín is a small municipality in the Sierra de Albarracín, in Teruel, 60 km from the provincial capital and at almost 1,390 m above sea level, with about 2,300 hectares of woodland —half its territory— and notable botanical diversity. Its name recalls settlers who came from Nájera, in La Rioja, brought by the lords of Azagra when they took over the lands of the taifa of Albarracín in the late 12th century; the village must have formed around a Romanesque church earlier than the present one, since its parish priest attended the consecration of Albarracín cathedral in 1200. It belonged to the Comunidad de Albarracín from the 1257 privilege of James I. Its church of San Miguel is Baroque, from 1742, and preserves a 14th-century processional cross, now in the diocesan museum. It has 131 inhabitants.
