Monterde de Albarracín is a small municipality in the Sierra de Albarracín, in the province of Teruel, with an area of 45.12 km², among limestone holm-oak woods that yield black winter truffle, hunted with dogs between December and March and complemented today by truffle plantations. In 1257, by privilege of James I, it became part of the Sesma de Bronchales, within the Comunidad de Santa María de Albarracín. It was known simply as Monterde until 1916, when it adopted its current name. In the mid-19th century it had 386 inhabitants; today it has 62 (INE 2025). It preserves a 16th-century church.
