What to see and do in Bordón

Bordón
Village
Bordón is a small municipality in the Teruel Maestrazgo, at 828 metres above sea level, with about 116 inhabitants. Probably of Carthaginian origin, it was incorporated around 1196 by the Templars into the commandery of Castellote, and in 1282 it received its Carta de Población. Tradition places in 1212 the finding of an image of the Virgin hidden in a kermes oak, on which a hermitage was built; around 1306 the Templars, because of the devotion it inspired, built in its place the great church of Nuestra Señora de la Carrasca, around which the present village grew. Its festivals are divided between San Antonio, on 5 January, the Pascua del Rollo, on Whit Monday, and the Virgen de la Araña, on 15 August.
