What to see and do in La Cuba

La Cuba
Village
La Cuba is a small municipality in the Maestrazgo, in the province of Teruel, with 53 inhabitants in 6.51 square kilometres, at 882 metres above sea level. Its castle and territory were bought on 26 October 1700 by the guardians of Narciso de Olzinelles y Fluvià from Martí Viñals, an ecclesiastical officer of the archbishop of Zaragoza. Its territory preserves four now-uninhabited masías, among them the Más de Ferrer and the Más de Moragues. Its cuisine includes Carne a la Pastora, a stew of potatoes and meat, and coquetas filled with candied pumpkin or angel-hair squash preserve, typical of the whole Maestrazgo. It celebrates the festivities of San Cristóbal, with a bull with flaming balls on its horns and the running of heifers, and those of Santa Brígida, in early February, with a bonfire and the zarpeo del gallo, performed on donkeyback.
