Castejón de Sos
Village
Castejón de Sos is a town in Ribagorza, in the province of Huesca, in the Benasque valley, internationally known for paragliding, with 840 inhabitants that also include the villages of Liri, Ramastué and El Run. It sits at 914 metres above sea level in the valley of the Ésera river, surrounded by Pyrenean mountains reaching 2749 metres at the Cibollés peak, and is accessed through the Ventamillo gorge, formed by the ancient glacier that shaped the valley. The PR-HU 5 hiking route ends in the village. It preserves an old 17th-century parish church, next to the current parish church, from 1972, and celebrates its festivities in honour of San Sebastián, on 20 January, and of the Virgen del Pilar, on 12 October.
