Seira is a municipality in the province of Huesca, in the comarca of La Ribagorza, with settlements at Abi, Barbaruéns and the capital, Seira, situated at 806 metres in the valley of the Ésera river, whose course gives entry to the Benasque valley. The municipal area, of mountainous relief between the Armeña cirque and the Chía mountain range, reaches 2,912 metres at Cotiella peak. It has 149 inhabitants. In the early 20th century a modernist-style hydroelectric plant of the Sociedad Catalana de Gas y Electricidad was set up here, bringing industry and wages to a valley until then devoted only to livestock farming.
