What to see and do in Vencillón

Vencillón
Village
Vencillón is a municipality in the comarca of La Litera, in eastern Huesca province, known in Catalan as Vensill. It was built entirely from scratch between 1961 and 1965 by the Instituto Nacional de Colonización, to a design by the architect Manuel Jiménez Varea, to settle colonists on the area's irrigated land; it split off from Esplús as an independent municipality on 20 June 1989. It now has around 400 inhabitants. The village, surrounded by pine woods, has as its main building the parish church of Santiago Apóstol and features a Bike Park dedicated to trial, downhill and dirt jump. Its patronal festival, in honour of Santiago Apóstol, is celebrated on 25 July.
