What to see and do in Altorricón

Altorricón
Village
Altorricón, in Catalan el Torricó, is a municipality in La Litera, in the province of Huesca, with 1,504 inhabitants (INE 2025) over 32 km², a density of 44.38 inhabitants/km². Its name comes from the Latin turris, "tower". The plains of La Litera were occupied by prehistoric man more than 100,000 years ago, and beneath the urban centre Neolithic remains, Bronze Age remains and medieval pottery have appeared. Its history was linked to Tamarite de Litera until, owing to its growing population, it separated to form its own municipality on 7 July 1932, although it did not delimit its municipal boundary until 1935. On the banks of the Sosa River, it lives on La Litera's irrigated farming, with pears, apples and peaches harvested from July to October for preserves and juice.
