Andilla
Village
Andilla is a mountain municipality in the province of Valencia, in the comarca of Los Serranos, with 338 inhabitants according to the 2025 register, situated on the southern slope of the sierra of the same name, already close to the border with Aragón. It historically consists of three hamlets and numerous small settlements scattered among deep ravines and heights exceeding 1,400 meters. In its municipal area, and also in neighboring Chelva, lies the site of Las Picarazas, with human remains between 1.3 and 1.5 million years old, among the oldest in Europe. It is a Spanish-speaking municipality. Founded by a settlement charter in 1252, on the sierra separating the Palancia from the Turia, its holm-oak groves today yield a black truffle that supports, together with honey and oil, part of the local economy.
