What to see and do in Abejuela

Abejuela
Village
Abejuela is a small municipality in the Teruel comarca of Gúdar-Javalambre, in Aragon, with 62 inhabitants and located at an altitude of 1,169 metres, in the centre of the sierra de Javalambre; it is the southernmost municipality in Aragon, on the border with Valencia and Castellón. Its centre sits beside the rambla de Abejuela, a tributary of the Turia, surrounded by limestone ranges between 1,400 and 1,600 metres with pines, Spanish juniper and common juniper, and the Cerro Negro, at 1,684 metres, as its highest point. It has one hamlet, La Cervera, now uninhabited. Archaeological remains found within the municipal boundary, Iberian-era spearheads, point to an ancient settlement that continued with a Roman fortress occupied by the Muslims around the 11th century. It preserves the Baroque church of San Agustín, from the 17th century.
