What to see and do in Sacañet

Sacañet
Village
Sacañet is one of the smallest municipalities in the Alto Palancia, in the province of Castellón, on the southern slope of the sierra de El Toro, at 1,015 metres above sea level, with the hamlet of Canales at 1,180 metres; the village is Spanish-speaking. It belonged to the jurisdiction of the Order of Calatrava and separated from Bejís in 1843. It has 67 inhabitants, half in the town centre and half in Canales, with a notable recent return of elderly emigrants; it lives from dry farming and livestock. Its parish church is dedicated to Santiago Apóstol, although the most deeply rooted devotion is to San Isidro Labrador, whose festivities are celebrated between the 1st and the 10th of August. On clear days the Peñagolosa can be seen, the highest peak in the Comunitat Valenciana.
