What to see and do in Sempere

Sempere
Village
Sempere is one of the smallest municipalities of La Vall d'Albaida, with barely 33 inhabitants, situated on the left bank of the Albaida river. Its origin lies in a Muslim hamlet that, after the Christian conquest, passed into the hands of Núñez Núñez; it was formerly noted for its pottery craftsmanship, and today lives mainly from wine, along with vegetables, maize and irrigated fruit trees. Its most notable monument is the Neoclassical parish church of San Pedro Apóstol, built between 1794 and 1814, with paintings on the dome evoking St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican; it is known as the "cathedral of the river". It celebrates San Blas on the first weekend of February, Corpus Christi on the Sunday closest to 29 June, and the Santísimo Cristo de Gracia on the third Sunday of October.
