What to see and do in Alfarrasí

Alfarrasí
Village
Alfarrasí is one of the smallest municipalities in the comarca of La Vall d'Albaida, in the province of Valencia, with 1,173 inhabitants, situated on the left bank of the Albaida river, after its confluence with the Clariano. Its name comes from the Arabic al-harrasin, the alfarrazadores, the trade of those who assessed by eye the value of fruit still on the tree before it was picked. Of Arabic origin, it is already documented in 1239 and was conquered in 1244, when its first lord was Llorenç Rocafull; it was left virtually depopulated after the expulsion of the Moriscos until 1625. In 1900 its population reached 886 inhabitants thanks to the prosperity of winemaking. It is a waypoint on the Ruta dels Quatre Pobles, which follows the course of the historic irrigation channel to Benissuera, Sempere and Guadasséquies.
