Pinet
Village
Pinet is a municipality of La Vall d'Albaida, in the province of Valencia, with 156 inhabitants, situated in a circular valley open to the northeast. It belonged to the barony of Luchente, under the lordship of the Maza family and later of the houses of Mandas and Dos Aguas, and in 1530 Pope Clement VII created a vicariate here, run by the Dominicans of Luchente until 1835. Its crops, all dry-farmed, are centred on the olive tree, followed by the plum, almond and carob trees. The parish church, dedicated to San Pedro Apóstol, with a barrel-vaulted nave reinforced by arches on buttresses and four intermediate chapels, has an ashlar doorway restored in 1928. Its patron saint festivities are held on the last weekend of June, in honour of San Pedro.
