Cerdà
Village
Cerdà is a municipality of the Valencian Costera, with 370 inhabitants, of flat terrain and a very scattered district, with several enclaves among which El Castellet stands out, at 270 metres. It was a Morisco settlement and took its name from the Cerdá family, from which philosophers, scientists and physicians came to be descended, although the Castilian branch lost the accent of the surname over time. In its district, next to the Torrente de Fenollet, unremarkable remains have been found of what may have been a Roman necropolis. It lives off irrigation, with oranges, lemons and other fruit, and off dry farming, with olive trees, carob trees and vines, as well as pastures for sheep. Its parish church is dedicated to San Antonio Abad, which also gives its name to the town's patron, celebrated every 17 January.
