What to see and do in Novetlè

Novetlè
Village
Novetlè is a municipality of La Costera, in Valencia, next to the sierra Carraposa; its hermitage of San Diego de Alcalá stands on the Peña de Sant Dídac. Its district, on flat ground on the banks of the river Cáñoles, is almost entirely enclosed by that of Xàtiva. It was an Arab alquería bought by the knights of the Tallada family, who had taken part in the conquest of Xàtiva from the Muslims; ecclesiastically it depended on Xàtiva until 1534, when it became a Morisco rectory. It has 872 inhabitants (INE 2025) and its main source of wealth is orange growing. It preserves the old Palacio de Tallada, now the town hall, and a washhouse with a mosaic dedicated to the Cristo del Perdón, patron of the town, to whom the August festivals are dedicated.
